Suitable Materials for Marine Urea Solution

What are the materials that are suitable to come in contact with Marine Urea Solution?

We have seen many people use unsuitable materials to handle Marine Urea Solution. Many people would think that a small number of suitable materials would not do any harm. This is far from true.

Marine Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems are very sensitive equipment. Minute traces of the unsuitable materials may end up in the SCR catalyst. This will eventually lead to blockage or system malfunction.

It can amount to the replacement of catalyst to SCR System repair. You may not find the spares at your various ports of call.

If your vessel is in Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) Emission Control Areas (ECAs), this would likely include fines from the port or coast authorities.

That’s why it’s important to get reliable suppliers who know how to handle Marine Urea Solution.
